A Lavender Farm

I come from Pennsylvania. I love gardening.Lavender essential oil Farm Free Visit I love farms. That is pretty standard for a Pennsylvanian. So, it is no wonder that I want to share this farm with all of you for Self Care Sunday. Visiting a garden is one of the most relaxing, peaceful things I can do for myself. I love the sights, sounds, smells and the abiding quietude. I use to do a lot of gardening, but I gave it all up when we became fulltime RVers. But, now I get to visit gardens all over the country, and I find it to be particularly grounding for me with all the constant travel and new sights. A good garden makes me feel at home.

Imagine the vibrant colors of flowers in bloom. The fresh, clean scent of juniper in the air. Rows and rows of lavender in perfect growing conditions. The muscular forms of black Percheron draft horses. The sound of a trickling creek as it meanders along a stone bed. Flower gardens bursting with life and inviting paths to follow. A pristine working farm with happy animals. Blue ponds and fountains with the sun dancing on the water’s surface. Utah mountains displaying their majestic heights in the background. Wouldn’t that be a nice place to visit? Well, my friends, you can! It is the Young Living Lavender Farm in Mona, Utah; and it is FREE and open to the public. I love when I can share about great visits that are free, because we want you to be able to enjoy travelling without breaking the budget.

Young Living is an essential oils company, but not just any essential oils company, they are the world leader in essential oils. The company has been in business going on 25 years, and they set the standard for essential oils with their Seed-to-Seal promise, which ensures their unique commitment to ensuring the quality of their essential oils from their scrutiny of each seed and the land where it is grown, all the way through the growing of the plant and the process of distilling and bottling their essential oils.

Young Living owns its own farms and has partner farms all over the world. While several of the farms Young Living owns are in the U.S., the Mona Lavender farm is a special place because of all of the activities, events and things to do there.

As we traveled through Utah, we decided to stop for a visit. Eventhough I was familiar with all of the great things happening there, I was still taken aback by just how beautiful the farm is, and how visitor-friendly they have made it. And you do not need to be a member of Young Living to enjoy it – they want everyone and anyone to enjoy the farm! Afterall, Gary Young, the founder of Young Living, was a farmer from Idaho – farming was his thing, and he made the farms the cornerstone of Young Living. He also really loved horses, so they play a big role at the farm too.

Here are just some of the things you can do at the Mona, Utah Lavender Farm:

  • Visit the Percherons and other horses.
  • Visit the lavender fields.
  • Sample any of Young Living’s over 220 oils! Sniff them all!
  • Tour the distillery. Distillation is the process used to produce many of the essential oils. It is a process in which steam is passed through the plant matter to draw out the essential oils. The water and oils are then separated, and the essential oils are bottled for use.
  • Take a paddleboat ride on the pond.
  • Visit the little western town.
  • Stroll through the gardens and enjoy the sights.
  • Enjoy some homemade lavender ice cream.
  • Check out the jousting arena (or watch an actual jousting match at convention).
  • Learn more about the farm and its history at the visitor’s center.
  • Attend an event like the Annual Lavender Day, the Fall Draft Horse Show, a PRCA rodeo and more.
  • Take a million photos of the scenery, or maybe that was just me.

Let’s take a look at our day at the essential oil farm…

We visit a lot of gardens on our travels, but we have not visited any other gardens that are also working farms. This is a unique place, and it is free!

Take a refreshing day away from your travels. Ground yourself and enjoy a beautiful place. Connect with all of the life around us, and sniff some oils!
